Molson Coors Brewery - New Can Line

The Canada’s oldest brewery company was founded by John Molson in 1786,. It is the second oldest company in Canada after the Hudson’s Bay Company. It is still simply called by people Molson, the company’s name until very recently. In 2005 the company has merged with Coors, an American brewery, and since then its official name has changed to Molson Coors.

Today, in its Montreal brewery, the company has inaugurated a new line for canned beer production. It proudly displayed the new can line – a leading edge production equipment. This enhancement will enable Molson Coors to service the local Quebec needs for beer sold in cans. In addition, the setting up of the new can line will make it possible to achieve water and energy reduction targets. It is projected to save the company 8.4 million liters of water in the coming year, an equivalent of 16 Olympic-size pools of water.

Sam Hamad, the Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and export was present at the inauguration, and expressed his support for this project.

Although I personally prefer to drink beer from bottles, I do understand the convenience of beer sold in cans. Cans do not brake as easily as glass bottles, and are lighter to carry. Apparently, there is a growing demand for canned beer in Quebec, and this new initiative by Molson Coors is a timely solution to satisfy that demand.
