Chianti Classico 2016

Chianti Classico in Montreal
June 1, 2016

This year, Chianti Classico is celebrating 300 years since the establishment of the wine rigion where these wines are grown. For the first time in history, oSeptember 24, 1716, Grand Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici issued a notice to define the boundaries of some particularly well-suited areas for the production of fine quality wines. those lands are where the Chianti Classico wines are still grown today.

To celebrate that anniversary, a wine tasting for professionals took place at the Montreal's Marché Bonsecours. 21 Chianti Classico Italiana wine producers presented a great number of wines and vintages from their vineyards. The interest in their wines was quite impressive.

The event was well organized. It was easy to navigate between the producers' tables to find some special wines to taste. There was also plenty of food, as is customary with the well-known Italian hospitality.
